What Sort of Hotel is Charlton Kings?

We're independent - and just a bit individual. The hotel is owned and run by us - Stuart and Lin Doughty. We're a husband and wife team who bought Charlton Kings Hotel in May 2008. Previously we'd owned a hotel in West Yorkshire. We're Londoners by birth but have lived in various parts of England.

We only want to run the kind of hotel that we'd like to stay in ourselves. So you'll find Charlton Kings has a certain individuality, a certain personality that reflects us. After all, we live in the building too - it's our home as well as our business. That doesn't mean you'll trip over our slippers in Reception, but it does mean we're always on hand to look after you. (Well... we have to sleep sometimes!)

We're interested in our guests; we're able to carry on intelligent conversation on many topics - or keep quiet as required. We aim to run as professional an operation as we can. We're not answerable to anyone except ourselves (and our bank manager). We'll give you the best service we can within the limited resources of a small hotel. We aim to make a profit, but if we were trying to get rich we wouldn't be in this business. Our careers were in television and theatre before we moved into hotels, but Basil and Sybil Fawlty we're not.
